Texas Rangers Hang on to Alex Rios, Neal Cotts

Alex Rios stays put with the Rangers for now.

The Texas Rangers had been listening to offers for both outfielder Alex Rios and reliever Neal Cotts but as the 3pm (central time) deadline came and went, both Rios and Cotts remained with the team and will not be moved.

At least not yet.

Let’s not forget there’s a waiver deadline still to come and there’s still time for the Rangers to make a deal with those two involved. There was talk earlier today that the San Francisco Giants were interested in Rios as were the Kansas City Royals but the Royals are one of the teams on Rios’ no-trade list so any deal involving those two sides would need his approval and there’s no telling how likely, or unlikely, that scenario would be.

Rios is a good piece that the Rangers can utilize next season with a lot of other pieces being back and healthy and he could be a big part of that.
