Scouting Report: There are a lot of things you look for in a quarterback and while you might want to start with the size, maybe you need to start by watching how he takes the snap, how he stands in the pocket and goes through his progressions, and then watch his arm.

That’s the one thing that jumps out to me about Witmer is his ability to throw the deep ball and do it with incredible accuracy. When you throw that kind of ball you want it to get out ahead of your receiver so they have a chance to run under it and you keep the defensive back from being able to make a play.

Watch the first two throws in the above film and you’ll see what I’m talking about, especially the second play. Look at the body language and then watch what I call the “effortless arm” to make that throw. You can’t get a better thrown ball than that. I like Witmer a lot and I think this young man has the potential to be a really good quarterback at the next level.

Let me know if you’re going to one of the games at McKinney High School this year. I’d love to tag along.
