Scouting Report: There’s no reason to overlook this 2018 defensive tackle for any reason. You can say what you want about his weight, especially since a lot of coaches would want to see a player at his position somewhere in the neighborhood of 230-240, but Thomas shows a big time ability to use his upper body strength to push by anyone.

He’s not all that explosive off the ball but look at his ability to push the offensive lineman across from him aside and wrap up the ball carrier or the quarterback. I think that’s the first thing that jumped out at me watching his film.

Do you remember watching a guy like Ndamukong Suh? While I’m certainly not going to compare Thomas to Suh I will say that the kind of upper body strength Thomas has reminds me a lot of what Suh used to do to opposing lineman. That’s the kind of thing that makes me put this young man on my list and it’s the biggest reason I think a lot of college coaches will take notice as well. Watch his senior season because he’s going to start getting a lot more attention over the next couple of months.

***UPDATE*** Just got an update on Murat Thomas. He’s up to 220 lbs as of August 7th, 2017.
